"At Home" is located in a building constructed during the socialist era in the 1960s, in the central part of the town of Pernik. The location offers convenient pedestrian, cycling and car access, as it sits on the town's commercial pedestrian street, in close proximity to the town square.
The building was originally constructed as a household services complex, and over the years parts of it have undergone numerous conversions. It has been used as a fashion house, as well as for beauty and physiotherapy salons.
The "At Home" project aims to rethink the possibilities of the space and transform it into a centre for personal development.
Many contemporary themes are combined, suited to active people or those seeking a change in their everyday lives. A new destination is created for sport, a healthy lifestyle, organic products, office spaces, workshops and creative studios.
"At Home" features "studio-type" offices available for rent for creative activities, a café and health-food shop, and a multifunctional hall that can be transformed from a yoga and meditation studio, a space for relaxation and meetings, into a venue for various events, presentations, training sessions on organic food and cosmetics, and practical knowledge of a variety of creative crafts.
In the interior project for "At Home", it was very important for us to convey a sense of homely comfort through traditional materials, forms and the symbolism of family, lineage and community, and the passing of knowledge between generations. Inspired by the traditional Bulgarian home of the past, we recreated its contemporary, avant-garde interpretation.
The project won the prestigious international design award Big See Design Award 2020 in the "Working Environment" category
